Once I get my membership back, I'm going to have to do a lot of shopping. Luckily, one of my best friends has given me 7 million gp (though in retrospect, I probably gave him a lot more in the past). Yes. 7 million gp, all for me to get back onto my feet. Although 7 million gp does sound like quite a lot of cash, I'd definitely have a lot more had I not retired from Runescape for a year. However, it'll be more than enough to give me a headstart on what I need.
I have everything I need to get back on my feet, such as a Rune Hatchet and knife. Really, that's all I'm going to need because I can already craft my own Nature Runes and pick my own Flax (though I'll probably pick 100, alch those and end up with 100k, and just buy all the flax and strings I need).
But since I have the money... I might as well make things easier on myself. I plan on purchasing the following:
-Several Glory Amulets (For nat running)
-Rune Pick Axe (For mining the minerals and gems I need)
-Full Rune with Dragon Scimitar or Abyssal Whip (For self defence)
-Full Black Dragonhide (For
That's all really. Now, because I have money, and I want to enjoy myself:
-Abyssal Whip
-Dragon Halbred, Long, Scimitar, Battle Axe, Dagger(s), and Square Shield
-Possibly an Obsidian Shield
-Recharge my Crystal Bow
That's about it. I also plan on trying out the new Construction skill and performing various new quests recently introduced into the game. Once that's over with, then I'll probably focus on getting full Dragon armor and increasing my Range, Crafting, and Magic levels while making lots of cash.
However, unless last summer where I could spend all day on Runescape, I recently found a summer job that seems to take up a lot of time and is very stressful on my behalf. However, I don't think it should bother me too much, so hopefully I'll be able to play and write at the same time.
Wish me luck. And as always, I thank my loyal readers who actually read these little stories I write. Thank you.
My friend's account is only around level 60 and his stats are really, really poor. Overall he must have like 700 skill points before he became a member and before he gave me permission to use his account. Playing on his account, I've come to realize how many immature, noobish players there are in Runescape (although I've always know and believed this, my experiences on his account only strengthen them).
Today I was trying to get my mage level to 45 by training on the Lesser Demon trapped inside the Wizard's Tower. I had given him over a thousand chaos runes which he never used when I told him to, so instead I just did the work for him and used them to increase his mage level. Many rangers and mages come here to train their range and magic, because it is an effective area to train. However, the thing about that area is that it's multicombat, therefore other players can fight the same monster as you are, so many are bothered by the fact that others are fighting the same monster as them and reducing the amount of experience they earn. People get mad and they begin yelling insults at each other and calling each other noobs because of their magic levels.
While I was there, people began asking what our magic levels were. I really don't like socializing with these kinds of noobs, because more often than not they're just there to show off their arrogance and weak skills (though occasionally, you get someone who just wants to talk and I can fully sympathize with that). Shortly after they all began calling each other noobs. It was ridiculous. People even began to make stupid remarks such as "I have a level 126 main u noob lol".
And the day before that I was training my range by the Moss Giants above Ardounge. Warriors kept complaining that I was taking their monster away and rangers kept calling me a noob because they wore Blue Dragon Hide whereas I was wearing basic leather. They also made fun of my range level, saying I was weak and noobish. There was even this one idiot who kept saying he could do a 22 with a dragon battle axe, obviously trying to show the world how powerful he was.
This kind of behavior is childish. I'm sick of it and have been for a long time. But I tolerate it, because I know how to handle it. If you don't like what's going on, turn your public chat to friends or better yet, off. You don't have to listen to these morons bicker. If you want to join in, go ahead, there's nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you won't be the one being picked on.
The ironic thing is that although they yelled noob at me, they don't know that I have a much higher leveled account than they do. I never tell anyone that because I myself don't show off unless there's a need to. I don't get my pride from making other people feel worthless. And I've also come to learn that no matter how good you are in something, there's always some one else who's better at it, so really there is no need to show off "how good you are", because in the end it only makes you look like a moron.
Well, sorry I took so long to post this. And I am glad another poster is also putting up material.
As I said at the end of my last post, I took some time to do the running for Law runes, on world 66. This was not that hard, though crowded. I couldn't run as many runes as other's since I carried teleport runes with me. Well, I carried water and air runes. The law, I was going to get!
A few tips for others out there doing this easy, and lucrative activity. Stand to the sides of the lane. Standing in the middle just makes it seem like you are doing the crafting. Don't, I repeat do not, say "Law me!", no matter how polite about it you are. That only irritates other players, and I never saw it work. I suggest right-clicking on the stack of crafters, and picking one a bit lower down. If they have not responded in about 15 seconds, try again. Expect to have to do this a lot.
Do not just keep clicking on the same one, unless it is a friend of yours. You are unlikely to get results. The crafter's are in Zamorak Red, so I suggest wearing something that is not red. However, honestly, it is so crowded it probably doesn't matter.
In about 6 hours of play-time [not realtime, this was over several days], I managed to go from 2 law runes to over 300. I then switched worlds, to move to another activity, and a guy bought 50 of them for 50K!
Law running is held on world 66, and sometimes on 99, depending on how crowded 66 is. Good luck if you try this!
Pk= Player Kill
Pking= Player Killing
Pker= Player Killer
I'm sick and tired of hearing about people complaining about pkers and how they make Runescape worse. I myself am not a pker and have never truly been one, I have no plans to ever become one, and despite my level I am often attacked or killed by pkers while in the wild. Although during these times I am often mad or upset, I realize (when I'm more calm) that I'm not being mature on the matter and niether is 80% of the Runescape community (but hey, what do you expect?).
I'm often reading certain threads on the forum about people being pked and how they'd wish Jagex would introduce something that would protect the non pkers from the pkers. Many of their arguments are that pkers will pk people for no reason and that it ruins their treasure trail , monster (team) killing, effective coal mining, and whatever have you. Yes, if you are an avid level 3 treasure trail hunter, someone who likes to fight the King Black Dragon a lot with his friends, an agility trainer, or just plain normal person wondaring around the wild, then yes, it does disrupt what you're doing.
However, one must take into account that the wild is meant to be dangerous by both monsters and pkers alike. The fact it is dangerous is what keeps other players out and makes what's there, valuable. If the wild were like any ordinary town or place, then imagine how easy it would be to achieve everything the wild has to offer, from an insanely great agility training arena to monsters that drop items worth several millions. It would make the game much easier and take away the fear and adrenaline that one gets when traveling into the wild.
Let me give you an example. Let's say they remove the ability to pk (or make it literally impossible by introducing somekind prayer or button). Imagine how many people would be at the KBD lair, how many people would be killing the valuable monsters there (like the black unicorns for example, or greater demons for non members), how many people would complete their treasure trail, how many people would be training in the small agility course, how many people would be there. Trimmed/god armor prices would be cut down dramtically, agility would be harder to train (since certain obstacles mandate only 1 player at a time), unicorn horns would be so harder to get because EVERYONE is killing them, newbs would reap the benefits of what the wild has to offer (such as the runes in black warrior fortress), and so on.
The thrill of being in the wild would be non existant. Simply, things cannot work normally, and thus this would make the game worse. Fear is what keeps the players outside the wild. They fear losing their Abyssal Whips and whatever else they hold dear to another player within seconds. It's what makes the wild worth venturing into, and if players would stop being so stubborn and greedy, they'd realize that pkers are what make the wild worth visiting. You may or may not agree with me on the matter, but this is how I feel about the wild and pkers.
I'm a Runescape Classic veteran. I originally started playing Runescape in the year of 2002, and during that time I really loved Runescape. I would literally stay in one spot for hours at a time mining two coal rocks and spending 20 minutes walking back and fourth from the bank and my location. I worked really hard for this game, and for those of you who think Runescape is hard now, you know NOTHING.
I bring this up because I have been pked and attacked several times during my years with the game, and though at first I was upset, I've come to the realization that it was my fault. I wanted to take my chances and risk it all, and I lost.
Pkers can be very annoying and they're garunteed to drive you mad occasionally. But please, just ignore them. Don't say "!&@$ you!" or "Thanks for keeping the wild cool!", just ignore them. If you want to curse them out, go ahead and risk your account beind banned and having your time and message wasted on someone who's not even listening. Just remember that the wild is the pkers land, and the second you walk into it, you'd better be prepared to fight or run.
As I told you all before, I'm currently playing Runescape on a friend's account.
I really don't recommend you share accounts with your friends, because this is against the rules Jagex has created. But really, I don't recommend you share accounts with your friends because it causes problems with the actual relationship between you and them. I've seen that it often does destroy friendships, but this isn't because of Runescape; it's because of the general nature of human beings. Humans are naturally very greedy, and often this is unlocked whenever something precious is within their hands, yet isn't theirs.
It doesn't even matter if you trust the person, because you can't even trust yourself completely. What if one day you spend 100k on runes and forget about the purchase? You'll naturally assume your friend stole it since only you and him have access to your account. This creates a kind of distrust and tension between friends, one that is often difficult to repair.
So I really recommend you don't share accounts with your friends, for both your sake and theirs. Just because I'm doing it doesn't mean you should too.
The above was to protect me from any kind of influence or blame in the event someone does decide to use my actions as an example to their stupidity and carelessness.
Now as I was saying, I'm currently playing on a friend's account because his internet has been down for a while and he feels that his membership is being wasted away, since he's not playing it. Before his internet went down, he had a lot of trouble with being a new member. He was confused and had difficulty deciding what to do, and although I was there to support him, I simply can't make decisions for him.
So therefore he asked me in person if I could help him out while he's away. I accepted the offer because this guy's my friend and one of the reason's I came back was because more and more people were playing it. I knew this guy for like 5 years and we're both about to go to college, so really there wasn't an issue of trust between us. Besides, we both feel it's only a game and that we know we won't mess each other up like that.
I'm basically playing on his account now, and I must say, it's very difficult for a level 103, 1500 skill point, 4 year RS and RSC veteran to play on a level 60, 700 skill point, year old account. It's even harder because he just became a member, therefore there are so many things to do and it's difficult for me to choose what. All my good member items which allow me to get around the world are also no longer available to me. Pretty much I'm playing like a newbie all over again... Great.
Well whatever. I got to work. I got him 15 agility levels and did some basic quests for him. I don't want to do too much because I feel he should do a lot more now, that way he gets an understanding of how the game works and what he should do in order to make the most out of his RS experience.
I've mentored several Runescape players. Most of them got into the high 90s and 1000 skill points. One of my best "pupils" has succeeded me during my retirement and now has over 1600 skill points and has 99 cooking. I know what I'm doing when it comes to this game. (Although, please understand I don't claim to be the best, I simply know how to handle things).
I don't mind helping my friend out at all. He's my friend. I know he will enjoy this game for a while, so I might as well get do what I can for him. I'm even trying to help get his computer back on track, but to no success. Hopefully he'll be back soon.
My junior year of high school is over and summer's coming this way, so I finally have the time to play Runescape again (as well as other things, hopefully). Right now I'm trying to get my membership back and get my account back on it's feet, and with the whole summer ahead of me, I can wait.
I retired from Runescape for a couple of reasons. The main reason was that I felt that I took it way too seriously, and I did. Making money, experience, and skills was more important than anything else to me. I would often force myself to play the game, instead of just playing it whenever I wanted to for fun. My priorities were never to have fun or enjoy myself anymore, but to work. Normally, this is good, but for a game which was meant to be enjoyed, it wasn't.
The kind of goal I was trying to reach while playing Runescape was unrewarding and useless. A lot of other junk happened that I don't want to share, but overall I just quit because I felt it was needed.
Before I retired, I invested some cash into buying a green and blue mask for 4 million, each. My experience has shown that the prices of these rare items increase as time goes on, so in the event I did decide to come back, I'd be a rich player. All I did was sell my whip and dragon square, and I had enough to purchase both masks.
But two months into retirement, I decided to give my items away to my friends. My runes, armor, weapons, money, anything that held value over 100k, I gave away, including my masks. Basically I have nothing right now except a rune hatchet, knife, rune pick axe, etc. I have faith that I'll be able to get back on my feet easily because my skills are high (but not the best) and I still remember my methods for making good cash.
The masks now are worth around 15-20 million each. I had two. So right now I could have about 30-40 million. My friends say they already sold it when it came to 10 million. I have no intention to ask for anything back, because this was a gift from me to my friends. Even so, I don't really care anymore.
So now I have pretty much nothing. That's fine with me. What's done is done, and I'm sure I can make it back on my feet. I just look forward to playing it now, just hopefully not as obsessive as before.
Hopefully I'll have my membership within a couple weeks and I'll be able to write more. But for now, my friend just lent me his account since his internet's down, so I'mma use his for the time being and blog about my experiences on that.
Thanks to all who have stayed faithful to his blog. Hopefully I'll try to be more interactive with my audience.
Here's a couple screenshots I took while I was still playing the game.
As indicated, I was working on One Small Favour for a while. It is a long, somewhat frustrating quest, lots of walking/teleporting/moving however you want. Very long. No tips on it, though it is set up so that you follow an arc, and could do the whole thing without having to teleport. I did teleport, but I wanted to get it done. You just keep going, and agreeing to do the little favours along the way.
I got caught for a little bit along the way, because you needed some herbs to make 'Guthix's Rest', and I was out of one of them. So, I went to Al Kharid, and killed the guards there for a couple of hours, till they finally dropped that one. Then, back to the quest.
Oh, here IS a tip for members out there, especially lower level ones, like myself. If you want to get to Edgeville repeatedly, and don't have a Glory Amulet, take an axe with you, and runes to teleport to Lumbridge. After doing what you want, teleport to Lumbridge, then use the axe to cut down the canoe station. Finally, canoe to Edgeville. Not as quick as a Glory Amulet, but less expensive, too. Hope it helps.
Well, I am down to 3 Law runes, so I will try the Law Run on World 66 next. I will report on that, and tell what I can about it, later. Have a fun week!
Lately, I haven't actually done much. I have been mining a lot [my highest skill], and am not too far away from my next level. While my mining is quite decent, my smithing is lagging behind a good bit.
Why? Because I spent [and will in the future] so much time mining gems, gold and silver. Those, you can't smith. You can smelt the gold and silver, but then, you move into crafting when working with them. And you obviously can't smith the gems at all!
I have taken a bit of a break, however, to work on a quest. Bit of a long one, from all I have found. "One Small Favour", which ends up being something like 20 not-so-small favours! Still, the rewards are huge. If nothing else, the key ring will let me save 5-6 bank spaces, always a good thing. And one of those lanterns could help enormously with raising my prayer, don't you think?
Well, I just started, so I have a long ways to go. But, if you see me this next month, that is what I will be doing. And doing. And doing. And doing.
